Rare-tunes of Afrofuturism
Several times a year, Alaska Al travels to countries in Africa and South America to search for the roots of today’s musical culture in the form of vinyl records of all kinds. In his DJ sets he mixes styles across different continents and decades.
For this special evening, he digs from his archive treasures from Ghana, Togo, Ethiopia, Sudan, Benin, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea and Senegal as well as from Colombia and Peru to the roots of Afrofuturism with styles such as Juju, Highlife, Mbalax , Ethio-Jazz, Shaigiya, Afrofunk or Champeta.
